WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM COUNSELLING?
Counselling is a supportive process where the
counsellor and the family develop better outcomes for everyone involved.
Sometimes it will involve individual counselling with a parent or
young person and at other times it will involve family counselling
- seeing parents and adolescents, or others, separately or together.
Once you have agreed to work with me, we will arrange sessions that
fit your schedule and needs. It may be that you wish to meet weekly,
biweekly or monthly.
Expect to be treated with respect and that your sessions will be
completely confidential. A written privacy policy will be provided
to you upon intake.
Counselling will enable you to discuss your goals and, as we continue
to meet, together we can assess what changes are happening and how
counselling is helping you in your life.
This is your process so it is important that you be able to discuss
what you find helpful.
It is important to remember that you cannot change other people's
behaviours, only your own, and you will likely be encouraged to
consider alternative ways of viewing and responding to some of the
challenges in your life.
IN-HOME
SUPPORT
In-home
sessions are conducted to maximize the opportunity for growth. I
visit you and your family in your home. Much success has been experience
by clients who are able to process the difficulties in the environment
the stressors exist.
A
person who is confused by the things that keep happening to them
can be shown with individual counselling, why these things happen
and what they can do to gain control over their life.
